Live rock bait and switch on eBay

Posted December 18th, 2007 by Ryan

Apparently since a few of us shop on eBay for saltwater supplies, including live rock, some sellers have been using the old bait and switch technique to scam a few of our members. Generally we don’t encourage users to buy saltwater supplies, which mainly includes livestock on eBay. Most of the operations on eBay are fly-by-night and are realitivey new or really don’t know what they are doing. They are out to make a “quick buck”. A RB  member paid $60 (including shipping mind you) for 25 pounds of live rock. They advertised that the rock was going to look like the above picture…and to our members surprise, he got this rock. 1. Is that even rock? It looks like blobs of play-doh. That rock looks pretty dead to me!

  2. Peter Cunningham Says:

That is absolutely disgraceful. I really do hope that the purchaser is able to get the money paid back.

It really does show how careful you have to be.
