I bought this skimmer for my girlfriends nanotank. It's a pain in the but to install because the pipe design only allows the power head to sit on it's side, which is too wide for the filter area in the back of her tank.

After modifying her tank to make it fit, the poor design and function of the skimmer became evident. It's in several pieces and very fragile, just pulling the cap off the collection cup is enough to make it fall apart.

In addition, it doesn't seem to actually do any skimming. Bubbles can be seen in the tube, but the skimmer is very sensitive to water level, and nothing really seems to be in the collection cup, even when the water level is just right.

Besides the design, the quality of the plastic is poor and easily breaks. Cannot get replacement parts from the manufacturer. Marine Depot can get some of the parts but will cost as much as the skimmer.
