Tunze or Vortech, hm. I actually have one of each. They are both great pumps - I like the vortech because I can adjust the flow and its pattern is so broad that it reaches everywhere in my tank so everything gets a little flow, but nothing is getting tissue blown off.

I use the (un-modded) 6025, which has no adjustments (but you can direct the flow, unlike the vortech) and a much tighter pattern, as a stream opposite the vortech which helps create more turbulence in my application, and keeps detritus out of a certain area the vortech never reaches.

In my opinion, both are very good pumps, both have their downsides, and both have applications in which one may excel over the other.

I've also used hydor...

which has been relegated to a saltwater mixing pump...
