We wish that CASCO would be a little more revealing about their new Aqua FX LED light which they introduced at Interzoo a few months ago. The first of the LED light tubes produced by CASCO will be the Aqua FX 500 which will primarily be aimed at commercial buyers in the UK for use in stores. The 500 will include up to 36W of high intensity LEDs, half of which are bright white and the other half will be Red, Blue and Green clusters which will adjust to produce a gazillion colors. The company suggests that the lights can be dimmed to red for acclimating fish, blue for displaying coral fluorescence or full on white for displaying live fish and plants. The fixture is controlled by a handy remote, the LED bulbs are supposed to last 10 yrs, the commercial units will run £179 and CASCO will be announcing consumer models in the near future.

I’ve heard very good things about these lights from my reps in LA. Tropic Marin is also releasing a new light this year. A 2 foot LED system is aimed to have a price point around $250-300.
