about Reef Builders

Reef Builders is an online community dedicated to reef tanks. Our popular reef blog informs reef hobbyists about popular reef equipment and the saltwater industry in general. We have discussion forums where you can talk about your reef tank, ask questions and receive help from reef community members. If you are just starting out in the saltwater aquarium world, reef aquarists have found that the Beginners Guide to Saltwater Aquariums and Tanks has been helpful in starting their journey towards reef keeping.

Nano aquariums have become increasingly popular with the onslaught of the current world economy. Their much smaller, taking up less space and using less resources like extra salt, testing agents and energy. If you yourself started to scan all the nano aquariums available on the market you could be quickly overwhelmed. Apparently, Euro Reef has realized this and has planned to release a different nano skimmer per nano aquarium, so let’s say you have a JBJ nano aquarium or even an Aquapod nano aquariums and you want a Euro Reef skimmer to power that. No problem. They have a skimmer for you. Like our earlier coverage of Euro Reef’s latest at Reef-a-Palooza suggests this is the direction they are taking. We just wish they would hurry up and released ‘em all already. Rumored pricing is less than $130, let’s hope that holds true.

These Nano Skimmers are a long time in the coming, but they do look much less toy-like and fiddly than some earlier prototypes. I am not sure how they will work with these AIO Nanos if they stand so tall out of the tank. You have to remove your hood?

I haven’t seen any pics of mediumdark skimmate, so I am not so sure that they perform any better or worse than a Remora or Tunze 9002. Let us hope!
