You remember that Royal Exclusiv Red Dragon controller first seen at Interzoo 2008? We finally acquired a copy of the manual for the Red Dragon Pump controller and we’ve come back with some impressions. The controller has different modes including manual, timer and cruise.  Manual and timer modes are self explanatory, however with the timer mode you have the option to set 5 different timers from A-E. In the cruise mode the controller will adjust the pump rotation speed to keep a stable flow. Customer will set 2 or more up to 5 cruise points in manual mode before using the cruise control mode. You can read the full manual if you’re interested right over here. Don’t get too comfortable with it unless you plan on laying down north of $900.

I have an OEM manual from the Chinese maker of these controllers. Its pretty interesting, but like you said, not worth $900. Try more like $100 direct.

    Here you go…

OEM is Honcar. Its a cheap Chinese pump it turns out, not even ‘made in EU/Germany’ like Royal Exclusiv would have you believe. US customs has been alerted to the ‘country of origin’ fraud and is investigating.

Notice how they are called ‘Red Devil’, not ‘Red Dragon’… thats because they were ‘Red Devil’ long before Royal Exclusiv.

Watch out, we tested these motors and found them to have some strong EMI… the EM field from 300V (not low voltage, but enough to kill you should you have an accident) is strong enough to jam electronics near it.

Needless to say, they will never get ‘UL approval’. Buyer beware!
