What do we have here? This is the first we have seen of Eshopps newest protein skimmer that is designed for nanos. The skimmer being designed for nano aquariums has some cleverly designed features. The biggest is the pump placement is directly under the skimmer body which allows the upflow of bubbles into a bubble plate, something that seems all skimmers have been getting recently. With the pump itself below the skimmer body precious heat coming from the pump isn’t transferred to the aquarium water, something that the coralife skimmer should take a hint on. The video shows the eshopps nano skimmer producing a nice foam froth from the addition of a needlewheel impeller which is a nice step up from the standard, boring venturi type skimmer on the market today. We don’t have pricing information but this should be very reasonable as soon as it hits the market sometime in the next few months.

Update: Premium Aquatics has it already right here for $129.95, thanks Doug.

Too bad they spent so much time emphasizing the external pump but still need that big defuser in the aquarium for the return pipe. Still, a step in the right direction from the Coralife models.
