arco

We’ve seen a handful of Arcohelia but it wasnt until we snuck a peek at this fantastic blue specimen on LiveAquaria that we had any idea of the this species’ full potential. This fantastic blue and white beauty is not for the every tank though; it is completely azooxanthellate and it should probably be kept in the shade to encourage maximum polyp extension and to prevent overgrowth by biofouling organisms. Any reefer looking to keep this species should be prepared to feed every polyp either through broadcast or target feeding of small meaty food particles at least two to three times a week. This 3″ colony is on the large end of the Arcohelia colonies which have made it to U.S. shores but hopefully we can look forward to seeing more glorious colonies like this one.

Don’t worry, we’ll give it a good home in California. ;)
