While touring the Southeast US we’ve been stopping by a handful of factories and notable aquarium businesses teasing out the news and products looming over the horizon. Along our travels we came across this behemoth commercial scale needle wheel protein skimmer at MyReef Creation HQ. This tower of a skimmer was custom ordered from Australia but we’re not sure if this thing is destined for a really large tank or if the skimmer was intended for use on the actual Great Barrier Reef! For size reference our senior editor Jake is 6′4″.  Lots more pics and technical specifications on this custom made monster skimmer will be forthcoming shortly.

Wow…That skimmer is huge. It reminds me of the Protein Skimmers my neighbor used to build. You could fit inside them.

That is one hell of a skimmer! I’m interested to see its intended home working on a real reef.

I saw that skimmer when I picked up my reef tanks for my new store. I am about an hour and a half from Lawrenceville. I just opened a new store with a Reef Builders type flair in Clemson SC. Gimme a call if you’re still in town 864.654.9002. or search google for Clemson Aquarium and I’m on the map! Heck of a skimmer. I liked their PVC version. Very cool indeed!
