There is a new LED lighting system appearing in Japan called Maxspect. Available only in Japan to start, this LED lighting system comes in 60, 110, 160 and 180 watt versions. Like other LED lights, Maxspect is really comparing themselves to other Metal Halide systems that include T5 for actnic supplementation. Maxspect is throwing in a 18 month warranty and the fit and finish of these units look top notch, something that Japan has been known for. You’re probably wondering about pricing, the 60watt is going for $130, 110 watt ($250) 160 watt ($350) and the 180 watt ($450). Availability outside Japan isn’t possible yet, unless you can get someone to import one of these models in.  Jump down below the break for rough translations from Japanese.

Features:
1. With the United States Xuming chip LED lamp beads, cost-effective
High brightness, low energy consumption
60w (white 36w + actnic 18w) = 75w Metal Halide + Blu-ray tube T5
110w (White 54w + actnic 54w) = 150w Metal Halide + Blu-ray tube T5
160w (White 102w + actnic 54w) = 250w Metal Halide + Blu-ray tube T5
180w (White 120w + actnic 54w) = 400w Metal Halide + Blu-ray tube T5

T5 products have the heat lamp (the impact of water temperature, heat radiation), metal halogen lamps of water shadow effect, the traditional light sources color effects can not be achieved

    Ryan,
I could not find the site of Maxspect and the shop to sell this product. The table of the spec only contains Chinese, but not Japanese. Where did you find this information? I am really interested to import this.

This looks like one seriously well built LED light, with some reasonably priced LED power. However, with a 180 watts of LED light, it better put off more than a 250 halide otherwise where is the efficiency gain?

I agree with Jake, that’s a seriously nice price for an LED only lamp. However looking at the specs (and granted I can’t translate what they say) but two columns say 3W, which I’m guessing one is white one is blue, the last one says 30W though, are there 30W LEDs out there? Or is the 180W (of which 4 of these 30W things are) really just some T5 bulbs or something thrown in?

It is NOT a Japanese produce. It is a Chinese produce. It is priced at Chinese dollars.

@Mike, looking at the underside of the unit it appears that the arrays are based on groups of 10, so each array would yield 30W. Even so, looking at the numbers for lumens at the bottom, that’s still really low for high output LEDs..
