Aquarium native iPhone game

aquarium-iphone-game

There is another native iPhone game, called Aquarium. Although it’s not actually a game yet but rather more of a screen saver… In short, you can see orange clownfish swim in the aquarium and feed them (this could be a good beginning for a “virtual pet” application). And Jason is still working on Aquarium, so it will certainly be improved in the next version. As is the case with every native iPhone game, you need to jailbreak your iPhone to be able to play Aquarium.

Salinity Front

Mark over at his blog, made a nice handy Mac widget called Salinity. It is used to calculate approximate salinity based on your hydrometer reading. It takes into account the current water temperature and the hydrometer’s calibration temperature. Pretty nifty eh? For the record I took my mac I bought back to the Apple store, it was fan-less and my legs couldn’t handle it. Until Steve Jobs admits that they need to put a cooling fan in, Apple is off my it list. However Mr. Tang that Mark keeps in his 45 gallon (hurry get your 65 gallon up and running, your 45 is way to small for him!) is on my list and now I am hideously jealous.

Pump head Loss calculator for saltwater aquariums

Head Loss calculator

One of the many problems of designing and implementing a saltwater aquarium setup is knowing how much of your main sump pump will lose because of head height. This is a very ongoing problem for marine aquarists. This software is a very valuable tool when building your reef saltwater aquarium.

Sim Aquarium Widget from Opera.com

SimAquarium is an aquarium simulation game - you can buy and sell fish, aquarium sceneries (plants, rocks etc), lighting and other things for your aquarium!

You can feed your fish, play with them and do much more. To earn money you have to breed and sell fish - there is 28 different species with different characteristics, some of the fishes are very rare. With more money you can buy bigger and prettier fishes, more impressive aquarium decorations and better lighting. But the most expensive animal you can buy is not a fish - it’s a dolphin!

The game doesn’t need a lot of attention - you can run this game in the background and do something else in the same time (it is possible to reduce the number of frames per second to save processor and you can minimize the widget). The widget file takes about 1.5 MB. I would be greateful for any comments about the game balance, speed etc. of the new version!!!

Oh, by the way: you can even take the photos of your aquarium! To take a photo, simply press the photo camera button. If you like your aquarium, you can post the photos here
