Nutramar Ogo Freeze-dried, natural algae

Posted May 1st, 2008 by Ryan

Nutramar-Ogo

Nutramar Ogo promises not to compromise water quality, we are wondering if that means leaking phosphates into your aquarium water like most green and purple nori does. Said to be packed with amino acids, Vitamin C, zinc, unsaturated fatty acids, and a variety of other essential vitamins and minerals. Bagged in the United States and re-hydrates to about 10 times its dry weight. Available at select LFS, retail is about $15 a bag.

Whale Shark off of Reef

The whale shark now has more friends in Taiwan and fewer enemies.

January 1st, 2008 will be the day the Taiwanese will put into effect a total ban on the hunting and selling of whale sharks, and whale shark meat. The ban also includes the export of whale sharks to aquariums around the world.

The Georgia Aquarium is negotiating with the Taiwanese government to acquire two more whale sharks before the ban takes effect. Taiwanese officials are reluctant to approve the sale of the two whale sharks until they learn more about the death of Ralph, a male whale shark which died in January at the hands of the Georgia Aquarium staff.

The ban recognizes “world opinion” as well as domestic concerns about the world’s largest fish, said Chu Yung-cheng, another fisheries department spokesman.
“Many Taiwanese have developed a sense of environmental protection,” Chu said.
The ban means no more whale shark meat will be on Taiwanese grocery store shelves, or on restaurant menus. This, according to restaurant owners isn’t going to hurt their business, as dishes containing whale shark meat aren’t as popular as they once were.
“Now, more Taiwanese want to protect the environment,” said restaurant manager Kuo Yaoming.
This is good news from Taiwan! Hopefully because of Taiwan’s close proximity, China will get the message and follow suit.

NutriDiet™ Naturals are the ideal solution for feeding a natural diet to fresh and saltwater fish. They are perfect for the aquarist seeking variety or an alternative to pelleted foods. Studies have shown that shrimp and mealworms can be used to condition a variety of fish for breeding. The unique packaging process of NutriDiet™ Naturals locks in moisture and nutrients making them more palatable and more nutritious than freeze-dried foods.

The Indianapolis Colts have won Superbowl XLI. Congratulations to Peyton as he deserved this. However I would like to point out the horrible job Rex Grossman did at trying to convince me that he in fact could throw. We all know that he can’t. It would not surprise me that he won’t be back. For any of you Pats fans who wanted revenge, maybe you can get that next year?

Here is a proposal for all the businesses in America. I think we should have a “National Day after the super bowl day off to rest and mend from the 50 pounds of potato chips chicken, shrimp and meat you ate the day before”. Geesh, I bet pink pepto makes a lot the next day after. Along with those diet plans you see advertising on TV.
In other news, the Superman Montipora (Danae) had bit the sand (or dust). It’s all but pretty much dead. Interestingly enough I did water tests last night and everything was fine, except of yes thats right, high phosphates.

Walt Smith just released a new Coral and Live Rock Supplement under their Fiji Gold Brand. Now I didn’t know that My live rock needed supplements to stay alive. I figured good flow and some descent lighting would do the trick. Apparently Walt Smith thinks differently and made this “direct from the Fiji Islands” supplement. The question is, is this taken from live rock? Or is it for your live rock. For any of you lucky enough to pick this baby up, let us know in comments or the forums. We are very interested to know what exactly this thing does that our Kalk does not.

Cyclop-eeze the man made product for your reef aquairum

I’m not much on man-made products on the market today. I prefer the natural products. I’ll give you one example, Burt’s Bees lip balm is one of my favorites. Anything else I hate. Okay maybe I am a little biased, I used to sell Burt’s Bees products but still, its natural and “good for you”. I like natural products, I really do.
But when Cyclopeeze® starting making my corals look better, I decided that perhaps maybe one man made product could be better. What is it exactly?
