Warner Marine’s H2 Hang on back skimmer

It’s taken a long time coming, but the new hang on back wonder known as the H1 H2 from Warner Marine has finally started to ship to retailers or rather is about to start shipping. These new H1 skimmers have a capacity of 100 gallons, and are powered by a sedra 5000 needle wheel pump. They take up a 10.25 x 4.75 x 18-20″ tall depending on your cup height with a 2.375 diameter neck and a 4.5″ diameter skimmer chamber. If you look closely you’ll see a CNC machines bubble plate chamber along with a new adjustable hanger bracket that fits up to 1.0″ thick tank frames. Aquarium specialty is taking pre-orders (we suggest calling) and we have no MSRP at the moment.

Warner Marine has released a new product called Ultimate Snow. It is a blend of multiple carbonate based micro-fine particles which is advertised to increase the efficiency of skimming, clears water and delivers organic nutrients when used. “When used with WM Ultimate Amino’s and WM Vitamin/HUFA it’s an incomparable “coral cocktail”, and is excellent for delivering inorganic nutrients such as Strontium, Iodide and Trace Elements as well.” There will be three sizes available the 8oz ($19) 16oz ($32) and 32oz ($50).

Warner Marine has been busy working on their next generation hang on back skimmer, or otherwise known as the “H” series. The current generation series (which is pictured) above is going to get extremely jealous when the next generation series pops its head out. Why? It is going to have unique and cool features that we haven’t seen on any other Warner Marine hang on back protein skimmer. For example, the new H series is rumored to have: 1.0″ wide hanger brackets, bubble plates, improved pump performance and standard air silencers. Also there will just be two models, the H1 and H2. Expect to see these sometime in late September. Interestingly Warner Marine is expected to be present at Macna and they might just go ahead and release it there.

Warner Marine K2 skimmers to get PVC

Can you spot the PVC in the above picture? Warner Marine has updated their K2 protein skimmers that gives the skimmers a new look. “The latest K-2’s rolling off the line now have a white PVC CNC machined threaded twist-lock. The first ones used black acrylic parts instead of the white PVC. Apparently this new white PVC is easier to machine versus arcylic and there is no retail price difference on these K2 cone skimmers.” We wouldn’t be surprised if more and more manufactures start using more PVC in their designs. Besides being easier to work with (not destroying bits) PVC has a cheaper cost then acrylic, however Warner Marine did a nice job of incorporating the PVC into their acrylic design.

If you wanted to get the hot new K2 cone skimmer that Warner Marine has been teasing us for some time you officialy can. While Warner Marine has been shipping it for over a month to retailers, retailers are now just starting to ship the new wonder. Retail is less than $800.

Looking at this beast from Warner Marine has us thinking that our small calcium reactors could never keep up with the production that the King Kong Calcium reactor spits out. For those of you who like to keep numbers it is a 5 chamber calcium reactor that is over 30″ tall and includes a 8″ main reaction chamber with built in integrated pump. This is a special order skimmer with the pricing expect to be north of $1500. Jump below the break for more shots.

Not content with the backwards start issues that plague the Sicce PSK-2500 design, Warner Marine has started to test a new pinwheel design that they hope will eliminate the issue. The initial design is based on the factory Sicce impeller and works on the principle that the “factory impeller turns in the correct direction because it can’t start in the other direction. It features 3 curved paddles that move the water inside the volute. These paddles are arrayed in 3 arcs. The paddles ‘can’t’ start in the wrong direction because of water pressure.” The new design will prevent “backwards starts” as it does in the original factory design. You wont be able to get your hands on these for a least a couple of months but we have learned that the air:water ratio should be the same. If you’re an owner of a K2 protein skimmer you won’t have to pay a cent for this upgrade, something that is becoming rare in the world we live in.

We received these photos of Warner Marine’s new H1 hang on back skimmer. Most likely this photo is a either a pre-production test run or one of the first production hang on skimmers made. If you notice this new h1 hang on back protein skimmer has a bubble diffusion plate which the older hang on back skimmer did not and we are guessing that Warner Marine isn’t content with the old pump’s numbers and has tweaked this skimmer accordingly. A release date and MSRP have yet to be set but we are guessing that it won’t be more than a couple weeks.

It seems the Warner Marine cone skimmer has already made it in the hands of some fortunate customers. Specifically vanillagorila was able to snag one of these cone skimmers and plop it on a dining room table for his camera to get some quality shots. Build quality, the K2 is amazing something that we have come to expect from Warner Marine. The video gives a good run down of the skimmer however it does need to break in for a few days to get that nasty skimate that we all like to see bubbling up from our skimmers. If you drop down below you’ll be able to see hands on pictures of the skimmers plus a nice comparison shot of the econo model from ATB, which the two skimmers look similar in size standing next together.

That hotness K2 cone skimmer from Warner Marine has finally started to ship, to dealers anyway. Warner Marine has released a nice teaser image of the drain and valve assembly…something that looks really nice. Our guess is we won’t start to see these skimmers at least for another month. Perhaps we all can beg for Warner Marine to release it sooner?
