Preis released a nano starter kit which includes sea salt, gravel material, starter for bacterial colonization and minerals for nano aquariums of up to 65 litters (17 Gallons). No idea on price, but your most likely going to have to live in Germany or Europe to get this product. Another picture after the jump!

Visi-therm the ever popular aquarium heaters have refreshed products coming down the pipeline. Up first is the new shock resistant quartz that will make up every new model and including heater guard to provide “both thermal and mechanical protection”. In addition to that change they now offer a 400 watt model which ups their heater product count to 9. Expect this to be avaiable later this year.

Limulus other LED pendant is the Caelum, the marine version is made from 75% 9000K LEDs and 25% 420nm blue LEDs. They will produce a freshwater version as well. Say hello to the Lyra by Limulus. The Lyra is a full RGB LED pendant. Limulus claims that is has the consumption of a 250w while producing 400w DE halide. Lunar cycle and sunrise/sunset is included. Dimming can be adjusted from 0% to 100% as well as adjusting the kelvin rating up to 20,000K.

Fresh from Interzoo 2008 a new “high performance” protein skimmers with high build quality. Unlike the other V2 protein skimmers, this is a new nano skimmer for tanks up to 31 gallons. Uses a injection system to create a nice froth of bubbles and water, no release date. A meager one year warranty is offered. Recommended flow rate of approx 720 l/hr (31GPH) . In what seems to be the reef industry trend, Tropic Marine has introduced their new AquaRay LED light bar. With this new unit you should be able to have a nice shimmering effect without having to utilize expensive metal halides. We are also curious how they compare to Current’s power bright LED light bar. H&S has released new impellers for aquabee pumps. With these new refreshed impellers this allows for a more energy efficient pump, along with running quieter. The shaft is attached permanently to the impeller, and the bearings are inside the silicone bushings. Both old design and new design pumps and impellers have parts available. Air performance is the generally the same. Price should be the same for a replacement impeller.

GHL/Profilux now offers dosing pumps that don’t need a full blown controller to operate. If your a fan of the balling method Fauna Marin is now compatible too. So what changed? The controller is now integrated into the dosing system so if you have multiple items to dose this new toy is for you. Like always no word on price, but we don’t expect these new toys to be cheap.

Fauna Marin released Ultra AlgeaX. Ultra AlgeaX is a very strong and effective solution to remove any hairy or plague type algae growth in Reef Tanks, it also removes dinoflagellates and Briopsis algae. It treats algae
plauges in reef aquariums without harming any corals. AlgeaX does not destabilise the aquarium system. AlgeaX is not a treatment for Cyano bacteria but for all type of algea´s.

You can now buy Korallen-Zucht’s newest mini hang on skimmer. Their calling it the Revolution. Designed for aquariums up to 700 litres (150 gallons). No word on price, but it should come in below the standard revolution skimmer line. You can purchase the skimmer now.

We received an unconfirmed report that Red Sea’s uber cool Red Sea max 250 is supposed to hit US shores early 2009. Please remember to take this with a big grain of salt and it most likely is another reef rumor. However, if this is true the UK should receive the Red Sea max 250 before the US does. Price should drop in the UK for £1200 ($2349), here is hoping that in the US it is much cheaper.
