Default Re: Cozer's 50gal Nano reef tank

I argee, i had been typing in a thread were the guys used jsut actinic lghting in his 29gal bio-cube and his zoa's took off tripling in growth and color and size. His acros didnt like it as much also his lps, but i thin ktht was due to the way the absorbe the calc out of the water to grow. There is something in there system tht needs tht intense light jsut for growth alone, then you add the actinics. All this is starting to make sense to me since you see most of the more colorful acros, zoa's and lps in the deeper regens of the ocean. As long as tht growth protein is stimulated to grow the coral will be fine, but the deeper u go the more blue the water being, hence the more blue lighting or spectrum will simualte tht environment. If im correct then the shallower water coral would thrive with the white light b/c thts all their used to.
Plz tell me if my observation is wrong or if you agree?

john
