Please "DO NOT" use Plexiglass or the clay pots will do the same.Use "ACRYLIC" too build shore up your your live rock. Plexiglass is made from Petroleum products and will slowly leech into your tank poisioning your tank you will loose fish and anenomies coral's.
The way I found out was in 1980 I built a 2.5gal. Saltwater tank to put into Aquarium Society of Kansas City contest I kept loosing fish and the tank would get foggy looking s/w
reacts to the oil chemicals, I went to Cadillac Plastics and when I was buying new sheets I happened too mention what I was doing with the Plexiglass the Employee said I should use Acrylic even though it is a base of petroleum it has a better binder to stop this leeching
larger tanks use acrylic because it can be molded from a liquid state then they glue the top and bottom on with special glue made for it. Clay is ok in freshwater it dos'nt react too much Cichlids like to lay their eggs in clay pots, clay is mixed with other binders and fired at 1600 degrees this burns of some petrol. btu S/W will penatrate the clay Porcelain
is better and more costly so Please use Acrylic and Silicone to use as the glue make sure it's pet or fish friendly and Sil. will cure underwater l hope this help's you. SnowWolf
