Default Molting Peppermint Shrimp

After posting this question in the wrong forum, I thought I'd repost here. I watched my tomato clown try to kill my last out of three peppermint shrimps late last night. My last remaining peppermint had just molted. The tomato clown attacked as if it sensed it had just molted and went in for the kill. If I hadn't tapped on the class and startled the fish, my peppermint would be dead. Is there any rhyme or reason as to when these shrimp molt? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening in the future? I've grown quite attached to this shrimp. He keeps my LR clean and has quite a little personality.
