I have the same problem and contacted the company. Several possible reasons for the bubbles, one - the tank is new and you have nothing in the tank for the skimmer to work on. Another reason is the skimmer is breaking in. It will make bubbles for the first couple of weeks. Stress coat additives, certain water dechlorinators, trace element supplements, and certain oily foods can all cause this problem to be worse.
It is also normal to see some level of bubbles as part of normal operation.
