Default Re: Hermit question

I had a whole tank full of hermit crabs from ocracoke in north carolina. We recently returned them to the wild after two years.( It took me that long to convince my sweety that it was the proper thing to do).Never in my life have a seen a messier critter in my tanks. Im quite sure they will give your skimmer fits. If they are eating well the can grow to 3 inch's or more and need regular shell changes and that in itself is a chalenge. If one needs a larger shell he will (if he can) kill one with the right size shell. And they are cannibals( not something for the kids to watch). All in all i would say they are a very negative thing for your tank.
