Default Re: Light bulb burn out

OK guys, wonderful call, it is in fact the ballast and not the bulb. As the bulb had a gray area and a black spot, I assumed that was the problem. How long can the tank do well without the white light? Should I get a different fixture (like from a regular aquarium, 10gal) and put it ontop of this ones lid? Or will it be alright until the ballast can be replaced by the Manufacturer? I have noticed some of my live rock losing some of it's growth, but as the tank is not that old I figured it was natural die off. Should I change out the bulbs everyday so that they get the white and the actenic at least some parts of the day? Thanks for your advice. S
