 changing water flow
I noticed a little bit of algae growth on the head of my Hydorflow, so I took it off to wash it. I didn't kill the pump first and the flow was coming straight out of the port, unguided, as fast as the maxijet900 will pump, which is a pretty big change from the flow through the diverter. It really stirred things up!! Not so much that I'd call it 'cloudy' but there were TONS of particles and junk flying through the tank.
Is it a good or a bad thing to change up the water flow every once in a while to really stir things up to remove, via filtration, stuff that might have settled?? I don't have any fish or corals yet, only a couple crabs and couple snails. It doesn't seem to be hurting these guys so I'd like to know if I can do this once I've got more expensive fish and corals in the tank.
Might it be an ok practice to remove this Hydor flow once a week for a couple hours (say during testing and water change) to stir up 'stuff' that might have settled? Or would the change in flow and the junk flowing through be bad for the fish and corals?  |
