Default Re: Blue Hippo Tang?

See, now here's the 64 gallon question: I know there are as many opinions on this as there are people but..... my general thought is that the less added to a tank, the better. If I change my water regularly, my filter pads in my sump, keep my skimmer working properly, in a perfect world, I shouldn't have to add anything except food.

I've heard many people mention garlic, and I'd previously been using Purple Up when I started my tank - which I later stopped when I realized that it was causing a serious drop in pH (see separate thread) - but why garlic? Is it really "necessary" or another theory? If necessary, what's the chemical/biological/scientific reason for it?
