black and red worm in substrate? I just put in some live sand from the fish store in my 12 gal nano tank yesterday and there was this very very small black and red worm looking thing partially under the sand right on the edge of the glass moving horizontally. I'd take a picture of it but it was too small. It's gone now because my snail must of sensed it and devoured it, it was the coolest sight. it just started taking bits out of it until it was half gone and then it must of disapeared into the sand again. I'm sure that must be normal, but now my snail won't eat. Its a carnivorous snail that lives under the substrate. I usually frequent the LFS in my city everyday about the same time which just so happens to be feeding time. Almost every tank in the store has these really cool snails and when the food goes into the water they sense it and surface to attack the food that the fish don't get its really neat to watch. Since I frequent the store they eat everyday. Well I put in some food in my new nano and the little guy never surfaced. I'm concerned...
The hermits ate his food so no worrys about that, but he didn't come up or anything. Any idea if maybe the worm he ate made him sick or something?
And what is that worm thing anyone know? |
