Default Complex Lighting question

I have a question for the experts on lighting. My tank has 260 watts of CF lighting that I have set up on a 13 hour day. My actnics come on at 7am then at 9am my 10K lights join in until 7pm at which time my actinics are on till 8pm. At 8pm my moonlights come on until 7am. The room that my tank is in has very subdued lighting during the day. What I am wondering is, can I change my day/night cycle to correspond to my time at home. I am usually near my tank from 6pm until 1am and again from 6:30am till 8am, so during most of the time I am at home my tank is dark. Several issues would benefit from this arrangement also. I live in Florida so keeping my water temp lower would be easier at night when my A/C is set lower and I would have more time to observe what is happening in my tank. Without getting into the quantum issues that may be involved, has anyone tried this and been successful? What issues should I be aware of? Thanks.
