| Sea grass??? I have a 46 Gal bowfront, Fluval, wet/dry, skimmer, denitrator, phosban reactor, RO, metal Halide lighting. Tank running 3.5 years, happy fish, no longevity with corals though, except my button polyps. Pink and purple coraline algae have done well and cover my rock now.
One of the large chunks of live rock had a few little green "bristles" growing from it, but not a problem it didn't seem to grow or change. I have battled brown, green bubble and red slime algae and have beaten each one. Now this green "sea grass" is taking off. It has spread to most of my rock and I am now a little concerned.
I have read about green hair algae (and seen pictures) but this stuff looks and feels like bristles on a paint brush. It is not soft or slimey in any way. Where it was origianlly has grown to a large clump like a small scrub brush made of green bristles. I have a Coral Beauty, snails and hermits and they don't seem intersted in it at all.
Do I have a problem? I can go in and cut it back, but I know it might be the type that reseeds itself and takes off. I think that may be what happened. With all the little bristles growing everywhere, it could take a long time and would probably require taking the rock out to scrub. Is there an additive or a fish or prefferably a cleaner I can get?
Any info appreciated. |
