Ken, the sponge dies upon contact with air, so I wouldnt put it in the tank. It may cause your ammonia levels to go up. Also, in terms of the birdsnest, when I purchased from Wholesale Aquatic Supplies I saw that they had Birdsnest as well. You may want to email them.. I know they were very helpful when I purchase my fiji live rock.
