Default How resilient are serpent stars???

So I woke up this morning to find my tank unusually cloudy. Taking a closer look I notice one of my serpent stars stuck against the intake of my MJ 1200 feeding the Remora skimmer. I just set the skimmer up a couple of days ago and forgot to put the guard on it.... So I power it off and the starfish falls behind the rockwork where I can't get to him, I assume he is now food for the rest of the stars (got about 12 of them.) I just saw him crawling around like nothing was wrong...missing half of his body and 2 legs!!! Water parameters are good, wonder if he'll make it? I just can't figure out for the life of me how he got up there since the intake is at least 7" above the highest rock. The guard is on now, hopefully he warned his friends to stay clear of it.
