You can buff out minor scratches in glass using a glass buffing compound, but the scratches need to be very shallow, the tank will need to be emptied so you can clean it out good once complete, and buffing glass sometimes results in haziness or a slightly deformed glass surface that would result in the light reflecting off of it differently. In general, buffing glass isn't worth it because of the above mentioned issues, along with the fact that it is time consuming to buff out the scratches.
