bnhaus is right! Determine what skimmer you want to run (the answer usually depends on how much money you are willing to spend) and then consider building your sump around it. Different skimmers have different requirements. For example optimum water level if it is in-sump. A 29 gallon will give you enough room to customize as you wish.
