Check the temperature. Xenias don't like it over 78 degrees. This is how they are controled in nature. In summer when temp. rises many xenias die off only the strongest survive. If this didn't happen xenias would take over the reef and kill all the other corals by coverring them and not letting them get light. So keep temp. bellow 80 degrees.
