Default water changes / calcium alkalinity additives

Now I finally got my rock cleaned and into my new tank. The tank has been cycling for 2 1/2 weeks. The first day the ammonia levels jumped and I started to smell the rock. I did a 30% water change the smell went away and the ammonia started to drop. Now I need to know if I should add some calcium alkalinity additives or should I wait. Curing the rock while my tank is cycling was recomended to me. I want to make sure I'm doing my best to make a great start. The rock I got from Home its great and I want to start to get a build up of colors going. I also will probly need to test the calcium levels and stuff if I use an additive correct. Can anyone refer one. I have been keeping a record book of all of my parameters and water changes.

Thanks will
