I had an algae problem in my refugium, my LFS told me to put a small power head in there for water movement. I have since gotten eid of it, as for the cheato, it needs water movement to thrive. I have a fellow saltwater hobbyist that has cheato in his refugium, and he also was told by his LFS that he needed water movement to help with this problem. I would try to get as much algae out of refugium, before you add power head.... This has worked for him, and myself. I also think IMO that you should install a phosphate filter, with good water parimaterd and doing this, you should have positive results. HOPE THIS HELPS, GOOD LUCK !
