Just my .02 but, I would get that magnesium and iodine test kits and concentrate on those and calcium rather than adding the purple up. I haven't personally used purple up before but I've heard nothing but bad things about the effects of it... after I tested my water for iodine and learned it was too low, I slowly raised it to the proper level and, low and behold, coraline everywhere!!! I really don't think you need the purple up, if it's not hurting anything then great but it sounds like you might want to concentrate on calcium, mag and iodine levels. Just my opinion...
