Ok, some of you asked me to post some pics so I thought I;d start in the back. Actually, it's after the lights are out so I didnt want to disturb the fish yet
So here is the filtration room.
The tank itself is 8'X4'X3' (LXWXH). Yep, I went for a 4' deep tank, front to back. One, it fit perfect in the corner of the room I had and two it really gives some great depth to the display.
Equipmetn list :
tank is 720 gallon
120 gallon sump
70 gal refugium
100 gal ro/di tank for water changes
2X 50 gallon catch tanks for overflow trap (more later)
Pumps:
3 Iwaki return pumps
1 Iwaki for the UV lights
1 Iwaki for Chiller supply
1 Iwaki for water change tank
1500 gal/hr recirc pump for closed loop
a couple of tunzes and pumps in tank for water flow.

Modified Euor-reef C-6 Skimmer,
Now has 5 recirc pumps mounted on the side, skimmer body is 6.5' tall, in-sump. Can run outside, but wife does not like potential spills
UV Lights : 3X40 Watt
Kalwasser top-off. Took out the calcium reactor as it wa always hard to maintain PH high enough with that bugger.
1.5hp Industrial chiller, temp setting 78C

5X 250W MH
4 X 6' VHO

first try at this.
The big black thing int he background is the back of the tank. Painted it black so you cant see though from the front of course. Horizontal pipes and the ones that wrap around to the side are the closed loop system for water flow.
Included a pic of my 100 gal di/ro tank. I use this for water changes. I plumbed it witha recirc loop and an iwaki pump. It feeds the water in the top and has a 45 deg nozzle inside the tank, this creates a nice circular motion/vortex in the tank and is perfect for mixing saltwater. If only I had patented that before euro-reef deisgned their new recirc skimmers..grrr
Anywas, I teed off the recirc for taking samples, water as needed, and also the top pipe runs over to the main sump. I can open a valve on the chiller loop and drain the sump to my hosue sump. Then I just open the valve on the spare tank and pump fresh made water direct tot he sump. Very easy water changes and no mess. Takes about 5 minutes to change 100 gallons out.
I also included a pic of two storage tanks I put under my stand. These are both 50 gallon tanks and plumbed together. We flooded the basement once with a power outage. The sump was not large enough to hold al the overflow and we had some "issues" So I now have two overflow pipes on the sump (top left on face). So instead of overflowing to the floor in a power outage or pump failures, it all flows to the two storage tanks. This give me 120 gallon sump storage and aontehr 100 int hese tanks. I also put a boat's bilge pump in the lower of the two overflow tanks. When the power comes back on, it automatically pumps all the water back to my main system and none of my pups goes dry. Works great.
