Re: Hard to get livestock Mr_X, I agree with you. I think most of this stuff is only rumors that are beeing spread throught the hobby. Yes, Hawaii is putting a limit on the amount of animals that can be caught, and perhaps tonga will not import to the US, but I dont think that will be too long. They will probably fill out the paperwork and all and get their act together. But then again, aquaculture will definatley become more prevelent in this hobby I would say just int the next 5 years! I liik back to when I started this hobby only 3.5 years ago, and my cruddy LFS never sold aquaculture and now they do. The environment is paying a price because of out hobby and because we are being careless. I forget where, but somewhere I had read that if there are 100fish caught to be sold, less that 50% will make it the first shipping day either from stress, cyonide, etc. Of that 50%, only 15% will make it the next 2-3 days. Then once acclimated in the LFS water, it all dpeends on how stressed, how soon someone buys it, etc to determine if they will live or not. If you think about it, for every 5-10 fish that live, 85-90 die.....isnt that a little unacceptable? I am sure that these figures are not constant, maybe they are seasonal, but still....think about aquaculture instead!
