The maxijet 600 that I got the other day is horrible. It puts out hardly any flow. I am not sure if I want to go with a 900 or 1200, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I have seen as far as a mini cycle is detitris or is it detitrus? Not sure of the spelling. So I pulled the powerhead out of the back of the tank and pointed it toward the rocks and sand. Most of it got siphoned up with the vaccuum. I cleaned the front and sides, but as far as maintenance I don't want to do anything big until it has finished the mini cycle. I checked all of the water parameters and they are at 0, and took a baggy of water to my LFS and they said the same thing. So far so good. Knock on wood.
