Do you have a sump or is this going to be a HOB (Hang-on Back) skimmer? If you have a sump I would recommend one of the ASM G3's. Great skimmer. If you are going to need a HOB you could go with the Aqua C remora. SInce you have a 55 I would recommend upgrading the pump to the Maxi-jet 1200 instead of the rio 800. Another good HOB is the Deltec MCE series. You could go with the 500 or 600. General rule of thumb you want your skimmer to perform double you tank volume. So if it says rated for tanks up to 110 gallons (usually it's 120g) your in the clear
