Icon14 Jacked Featherduster??

Hello all!

I've got a gorgeous feather duster whose tube is about 2" long, that grew from an almost nothing when I first spotted it in my tank a little over a year ago peeking through a crevice. He's grown into a beautiful specimen and has always looked very lush.

Today, I noticed he almost looks as if he was mugged inside his tube! His feathers are all bent looking, and the tiny filaments they are made up of look like a matted mass of wet dog hair!
I know they can shed their duster if they're stressed or something is bothering them, but there hasn't been anything picking at it at all. The water parameters are all fine, with a 0 level nitrate (finally!), slight phosphates (nothing he hasn't been dealing with for the past year), and everything else in line. (PH, Alk, Nitrite and Ammonia).

Has anyone ever encountered this?? Yesterday he was flowing in the water all lush and beautiful and today he looks like he fell off of a moving bus!
The only thing I changed was the location of the heads I have in the tank, and even at that he was not getting slammed with flow....I always make sure he gets moderate and never direct. Any ideas??
