| Thanks Michelle. When your clam grows up I have two good buddies in FL that can help you spawn it. Thanks for posting in this forum! Adam |

| Honestly I think the growout is easy... just very very time consuming. I just answered your post on MOFIB. Really, get some large substrate (like dead coral skeletons) and put them in a 10 gal tank on top of a bunch of crushed coral. After the larvae settle (one week) switch from a small bubbler to a small powerhead. Wait 3 years and let me know how it went. LOL Adam |

| Ok, What is mofib? I currently have a clam tanks consiting of 12 assorted clams. Three of interest. An Ultra maxima (9"), Ultra maxima (8"), and Crocea about 6". All are in MH/t5 50-50 combination. Is there a concern/ risk of damage or stress to the clam to initiate spawning in this way? Most appear to be thriving however, I am wondering if there are any signs of the gradual down fall you refrence over a period of time?

| Well that is an interesting set of questions. Clams can spawn for many reasons but two main reasons are 1) they are very happy and 2) they are very sad. So what is a hobbyist to do? If things go poorly in your tank they certainly can be stressed and spawn. And if things are rockin' in your tank they will also spawn. Remember they want to reproduce.... very badly. Their entire existence depends on it. Good news is that if they spawn in your tank you will be just fine. Most of the time this causes no long term problems for the tank. Although I've personally seen it wipe out nano tanks. By the way, want to share pictures. I'd love to see photos of that big ultra maxima.
