| Mine host in my brown button polyps. They have a nice carpet around the corner but they aren't interested in it. I even see them nursing on a corner of a mushroom every now and again. Go figure. |

| Nice. You never know what a clown is going to pick as a host, which is one reason why people need to learn that clownfish don't need an anemone, because even if they have one available, they might choose another coral anyway.

| Clown was first fish in the tank, Nov 07. She briefly moved into a torch coral, the day before I pulled all my fish to qt to treat an ich outbreak in Jan 08, but didnt move back into torch after treatment.

| A couple days ago, when I was feeding the tank, a piece of food blew into the LTA. My clown is a super pig, so she went in after the food. She got a big faceful of host anenome. For a couple hours after she was frantic, trying to decide if she like the anemone better than the feather dusters, and trying to keep all the other fish away from both. ![]() This morning I fed my anemones, I usually give them pieces of silverside a couple times per week. I gave the LTA a piece of silverside, the shrimp came out so I gave them a piece to keep them busy, I then fed the carpet. When I was getting a silverside piece for my elephant ear mushroom I noticed the clown had stolen the silverside from the shrimp and gave it to the LTA. I then put some frozen food in for the fish, the clown grabbed the largest piece and stuffed it into the LTA. By the time the clown was done stuffing food into it, it took the LTA over a half an hr to get all the food eaten. ![]()

| Nice. Do you feed the BTA? These poor clowns have been overbread so much i dont think most know or even care about hosting. Its best to get clowns that werent tank bread for this reason. |
| ||||
| No BTA, Ive got a haddoni carpet, and a long tentacle. I feed the anemones bits of silverside 2 or 3 times per week. The last picture was taken an hour or so after feeding, after it got the food ingested and had reopened. I dont actually know if shes tank raised or wild caught, but I suspect tank raised because she has minor deformations, a missing pelvic fin, curled gill cover and a scrunchy face on her right side.

| BTA is a bubble tip jsyk. They would also like raw shrimp. Just cut in small enough pieces he can eat. Also you can control the BTA's growth from its feeding.It can grow fast if fead good enough or slow if controlled. I feed my medium size bubble 1 medium raw shrimp weekly. Plus if the clown is hosting it then he will bring bits of food to the anemone. |

| Heres a pick of a long tentical. Your looks more like an BTA. Sometimes in lowerlighting and or diet they will stretch out more.This is why it looks so open. Saltwater Aquarium Anemones for Marine Reef Aquariums: Long Tentacle Anemone |

| Demon, I appologise for the firmness of my last post. All I can say is that having owned the animal in question for over 7 months, there is NO doubt in my mind that it is a Long Tentacle Anemone. This nem has had a fairly rough capitve life, I bought it from a lfs that had it in a tank with inadequate lighting. When I brought it home it attached to my bottom glass through my sand bed and appeared happy for a couple weeks, then it detatched one day and managed to find a powerhead before I knew it was loose. After that it mostly floated around the tank unattached, with a couple of times that it looked like it had found a spot but then let go when certain powerheads were turned back on. It managed to get into one of my powerheads 2more times. During this time it bleached out almost totally despite my efforts find a place it was happy. About February this year it had shrunk down to about the size of my thumb, then it totally disappeared. I believed it had died and bought the carpet to replace it at the beginning of May. A couple weeks after the carpet was purchased the LTA reappeared in its current spot. Two months of frequent feedings and good lighting have quadrupled its size, and it is gaining more color almost daily. The first picture of it in this post was from a month after it reappeared and about a month ago. The anemone has always had visible verracue on its upper column, the foot was initially a bright pink, but since it was bleached out when it was wandering the foot is a faded pinkish tan. When it first reappeared in early May the tentacles were about a half inch fully extended, now they are close to two inches, and the oral disc was an inch and a half or so and is now over 4inches. The body has colored up nicely to a fairly dark brown, and its gaining more and more of a green sheen as it gets healthier. The anemone's choice of a spot in the rockwork to attach to is somewhat unusual for a LTA, but the rock it is on has a lot of gaps and tunnels and the foot actually extends a couple inches into the rock.
