Default Clown and Frogspawn?

At a local coral shop they have a couple nice looking clowns with a very tight attacthment to a frogspawn about the size of a volleyball. Anyone else had this experience? I bought a smaller frag from the shop, just to see if mine would get curious enough about it to "toy" with hiding or residing in it.

Clowns will host the funniest things sometimes from frogspawn to clams. Someone has one that hosted a large feather duster.,

Clowns can be rough on animals other than their natural hosts - anemones. While clowns will pick surrogate hosts, they can really damage the surrogate with their constant buffeting. It's best to get them an anemone.

I don't think it is best to get clowns an anemone, esp. if the tank isn't setup for an anemone. Anemones need space, they can multiple and wonder into other corals or powerhead, have special lighting and food needs, many of the natural anemone hosts for most types of clowns can be especially tough to keep or eat fish,etc... Yes, certain types of clowns can be rough on surrogate host corals, but even if you got them an anemone, they may choose not to host in it and remain hosting in something else or the anemone may cause other issues within the tank.

Brian -- Agreed. Anemones can be challanging to keep. IMHO, one needs to do research. Too often, people go out, see a "pretty fish," buy it and then find out that there's more to keeping it than they expected. Bubble Tip Anemones (BTA) seem to be easier to keep and many clowns host very nicely in them. Maybe I've been uncommonly lucky with both Maroon and Tomato Clowns and their BTA (different set ups.).
