Default not to beet the bush but....

ok i was at my lfs and made what might be a mistake, lol. i saw this anenome (long tentacle) and just baught it cause it was one of the better ones i had seen. well, im running 4 65 watt compacts (looked it up online and it said with this anenome it should be fine, and just baught some metal halides, should be here at the end of the week, keep in mind im running a 55. ) well the problem is my tank has only been running for 4.5 months, and untill i read through the forums and read that you should be up and running for 6-9 i kinda kicked myself and just wanted to know if it is possible to keep one at 4.5 months. all my stats are perfect to within normal parameters. and it seems to be doing well, its on its death march now (as my friend calls it) luckily hasnt found any corals yet, but i have pleanty of current and pleanty of realestate for it.

just wanted to know from experience if people have kept anenomes succsefully at such a young tank age. thanks.

I had a 10 gal nano up and running for about that amount of time when I put a bubble tip in it. It did really well for several months. However it's "death march", as you put it, was what caused me to lose it. It stayed in the same place for four or five months, relatively, then one day I came home from work and it had tried to crawl into the filter. The suction turned it inside out. I just had a little 18watt T5 on my nano and it seemed to be plenty of light for it. Hope that helps.

LTA are a little more difficult and light demanding than BTA's, but they can be kept in a tank that age. One of the main things with any type of anemone is to make sure that if it does wonder, it wont get sucked into anything.
