Default Newly added BTA

here is some pictures of my newly added BTA. I first placed him deep in the gravel on the bottom, but moved to a piece of live rock that is only slightly covered by gravel. Does he look okay? I just want to make sure he is doing okay. Also this picture is him only being in the tank for about 6hrs.

Should I try to cover his body up more with some additional gravel or will he be happy like this?

One last thing. One of my small frags of zoanthids was mysteriously on the gravel bottom this morning? Could the anemone have gone up the rocks, hit it, then moved back to the same place?

dont try and bury the BTA, best thing to do as I have been told is place him in the front bottom of the tank and let it go where it wants.
As far as the zoos its possible but they tend to not mess with anything and never knocked anything over in my tank. Good Luck. word of advice from experience screen your intakes, powerheads and anything else it might be able to be sucked in to. They can become thinner than paper so beware. Good luck again!! keep us posted on it. It would be nice to hear some good news about a BTA this month, last month was a bad month for them.

Its not recommended you put an anemone in your tank for 9mos to a year.

Hers some more info:

Saltwater Aquarium Invertebrates for Marine Reef Aquariums: Bulb Anemone

There is more in the Reef Builders Library if you want to read about anemones.

okay my friend also said a crab may have knocked it down.

it seems to like the place just sitting in the front of the tank because it has not moved.

the pump is located behind a wall of plastic in the tank. on the opposite side from the intake. the intake on the opposite side houses a sponge so i dont think it could get sucked in far. also it is located about 6" away front it and would have to go through a bunch of live ruck to get to it.

Ill keep you guys posted on how it does and such. I hope mine does okay.

When should i try to feed it something? Do you want to feed it raw or precooked food like shrimp?

Also i have the waterjet that used to be pointed where he is located far away from him. Should i move it back?

Also eventhough i was told anemones usually cant sting your hang i have 2 sting marks on my hand between my pinky and ring finger and the ring finger and the middle finger that are about the size of a pencil eraser. It is a good sign that its stings are powerful and that is nice and opened up today and colorful?

Please read the article I posted earlier. It will explain what you need to know about your anemone.

Your LFS will sell you anything.

I was basically given a small BTA at about the 5 month mark or so and the next day it was sucked into an intake. Then after some discussion with some members on here I decided to grab one a LFS had for awhile and they sold it to me extremely cheap. So I decided I would try another one. My maroon clown hosted in a couple days and all was good for a couple weeks. Then all of a sudden it decided it didnt like light any longer. only came out at night and wouldnt eat. Needless to say I wont have another for quite some time. Jim told me over and over they dont have brains which means we have to be more than ready to take care of them. Its not even an issue to live and learn or admit a mistake but just learn from it and like I told another new member here . Ask here, ask on other forums but unless you trust your LFS beyond any reasonable doubt dont trust them. haha

Only three questions you should ask your LFS. Do you have it? Can you get it? and Wheres the bathroom?

"wheres the bathroom"? !? is that to throw up when you see the exhuberant prices? Or when they give you stupid suggestions and info?

From now on I am going to trust them like a cars salesman, not much at all. It just kinda annoys me that they essentially lied to me eventhough my good friend told me they were very knowledgeable, even though more expensive.

I have another salt water fish store near me as well that is usually much cheaper, but doesn't offer much "help and advice" but now i see that may be better not to mention letting me keep some more money in my pocket.

I dont think any one is cooking for it when it sits on the ocean floor.

You need to read. If you dont you will never learn cause people are not always gonna be here for you or you will get crappy advice. Go read the link I posted earlier.

Your nem is bleached, but otherwise looks healthy. What type of lighting do you have? Bta's prefer to attach their foot in the crevice in a rock. 3 of mine are attached under a ledge at the top of my tank & stretch out towards the light during the day, in a "L" shape.

I agree that your tank is not mature enough for an anemone.
8-12 months should be the ealiest to add one. Some (not all)LFS will tell you anything for a sell

A valuable piece of advice in this hobby: Patience & research, research, research! The internet is a world of information.

Best of luck
