Hello. I have a 29 gallon saltwater tank. We have what was supposed to be a pink tipped anemone. It's got long tentacles and pink tips on them. It has a light pinkish base.

This morning when we woke up the anemone was all shriveled up. We thought it was dead. After a couple of hours it started to come back to life.

Then, a few hours after that, the base of it totally engulfed the tentacles (kindof like it swallowed the tentacles whole).

What is this and is it normal???

sounds like normal to me, but my bubble tip is going crazy too. google bta and there is info to help you get through the first few days i found this site and it gave a lot of info.Caring for these beautiful creatures | In living color with more pictures then you will find anywhere

I just got a purple tipped anemone and mine did the exact same thing, I thought it was dead because all the tentacles were deflated but then once the light came on the tentacles reinflated. When my anemone eats (i feed him frozen mysis shrimp) he grabs the particles with his tentacles and then moves them to his mouth and it looks like he's eating his tentacles, so what yours is doing sounds normal, or else i guess we both have messed up anemones, jk
