Default Creating a breeding pair

I have a ocellaris clown that is a little over a year old (at least that's how long I've had him/her). I had another one in the tank at one point, but he jumped out of the tank into the filter and died. However, when there were both of them, this clown was definitely the larger and more dominant...and it looked like they'd established the male/female roles. My question is this:

If I introduce another, smaller ocellaris clown, will she resume her role as female....or will they have to start all over with the dominance/submission thing?

The larger one you already have already is a female. The new one you buy should be smaller. They will go through the ritual of establishing dominace, the larger will be the dominate female and the smaller will be her subserviant mate. I have never matched up ocellaris but I am familiar with them, I have a pair. I have tried to match up a nasty mean maroon who unfortunately killed her intended mate. I think you should have an easier time of it seeing that ocellaris have a better temperment. Do introduce gradually and watch for aggression, be ready to remove the new one ore isolate it, if it is getting burtalized.

Hey thanks. I figured this should be the case, but I just wanted another opinion. Also, does anyone have experience with breeding clowns on a large-er scale. Not huge...but like a hatch every month or so...? What kind of setups do you clown breeders employ?

I would check out clownfish/anemone and invert forums on reefcentral.com and nanoreef.com, sure you'll find some people there, they get a lot more traffic then this site. : )
