Default what kind of anemone is this

My husband surprised me by bringing me home an anemone I was waiting to get one. The clown fish won't go near it. I haven't a clue what kind it it....but I am new to this hobby. Help anyone!!! Thanks yet again for your help. Hopefully the picture will turn out. THe anemone will not stay in one place ...It moves arount quite a bit. it it about 5" long including its whole body. Do I need to take it back to where my husband got it from? The only fish in my tank is a marron clown. What type of anemone does he need, if any? Thanks again for your patience with me.

I am going to make an educated guess and say it is a sebae. I originally thought maybe a condy but the foot is the same color as the tentacles. Your maroon might host but no guarantee as they are not listed as a species that are usually found together. I have seen clowns hosting in weird stuff for example when I had a bad case of red slime, it loved to rub up inside of it. You might want to go with a bubble tip. Doesn't move around a whole lot and pretty easy to take care of.

yeah, i agree it looks like a sabae. they are fairly difficult to care for and need a lot of light. I also would go for the bubble tiped anemone. sometimes it takes months for the clown to be in the anemone.

It's a Condylactis Anemone...pretty much one of the only ones that Clownfish don't like to host in due to its powerful sting and tendency to eat them. For maroons a Bubble Tip Anemone would be best.

It's either a Condy or a Long Tentacle Anemone

If you get a bubble tip anemone your maroon clown is almost guaranteed to go to it

There's more than the pink tip condy. It's just a regular condy.

i have all sabae, long tentacle, condy, and bubble tip. It is a Condy...

I prefer long tentacles for my clowns, because they look best for a good amount of money. =) and you just need to stick some frozen krill in there couple times a week.

did you have trouble getting it out of the tank?? I mistakenly bought one (my own fault due to lack of research and not asking the store ) and would like to take it back, but I can't get it off of the rock crevice that he's taken to. I've only got 2 small perculas and a polyp rock in the tank so far. I'm wanting a host anemone.

How can I get it off the rock that it's anchored to?

What are the odds that if I leave it in, that it will move around and harm other life? I really do like the look of it with the bright orange base and the white tenticles with purple tips. It's a great size for my tank. If I could add a second, fish friendly anemone, I wouldn't mind keeping it.

On a different thread there was a discussion about how to move an anemone and it included rubbing the foot with ice and directing a powerhead on it so that it gets annoyed with its choice of housing and leave

I got it out at lunch and took it back and spent a little bit more on a Long Tenticle that was slightly larger. Acclimated it, placed it where it looks nice and we'll see what happens.

thanks for the help.
