Default anenome

hello in a smaller tank of ours is a anenome and the tank has been established for about 4 months anyway the anenome is constantly moving all over the glass. the lfs said that it would find a home in a few days but it never stops moving is this normal or was the lfs full of bs?

Anemones move around until they find a good spot and are happy...you need to check your water parameters to make sure you're not stressing it out.

ya i keep a very close eye on the parameters in that tank as it is very small they are good so not sure what to do with it i guess let it hang out its been in there for quite a while now. Occasionally it shrinks up real small for a little while then gets all big and colorful it just cant seem to make up its mind.

just feed it kirll or other foods of the like, and keep it healthy. im not sure if have a clownfish or not would help it settle in but worth a shot if your tank is large enough!! you said its small but how many gallons??

ok will do so how the heck do you feed it whole foods? just drop it near it or what? The lfs said to use this liquid food and a turkey baster the liquid food is called DT,s live marine photoplankton they said to squirt it with the turkey baster right at its foot.

Drop a small piece (small for you is different than small for me because of size differencial)...you'll know what size will be right for it because it can basically eat a piece of food the size of its mouth, right onto its tentacles and it should grab it

They will move for many reasons:

Lighting
Water Movement
Coral placement

It also depends on the type of anemone. Some types will move around constantly while others will stay put. I had one that went all to the top of the tank and was stuck on the glass.

I agree, sometimes they just stay on the move, your lighting could possibly be a reason for the constant movement, I have had them find home under a rock ledge, very low lighting there.

You need to be specific about your lighting, water flow and what type of anemone. Generally, if they are moving, they are not happy.

An anemone won't get much out of DT's. Small pieces, the size of the anemones mouth of shrimp, silversides or other fresh seafood are what they prefer to eat. Only feed once, maybe twice a week.

yes i have two tube anemones and one pink tip which is rather large and my purple tube anemone lives within my reef and i havnt seen it move out of there since it went in but its alive cause i can see it if i look hard enough but my other two they stay on the outside on the reef just under ledges and havnt moved for a longtime, i find they like shaded areas with medium flow and the tube anemones i find need medium flow to barely any flow but they like light strong light to barely any light depending on the anemone and its color my white tube anemone stayed in the bright light for 6 months and they it desided to sit in the shade and hasn't move so my advice would be to put it in a shaded area and feed it good and it will stay
