I have seen people on both sides of the fence with this one. It seems that some people think that there is not enough wattage for each gallon of tank (should be 4 or more for an anemone). The Biocube that I have is 29 gallons and has a 36 watt Tru Actinic 03 Blue light and a 36 watt 10,000k Daylight. That is 72 watts total (not sure that the blue one counts), which only ends up being slightly under 2.5 watts per gallon. Others have said that PC lighting does not penetrate deeply enough though the water.
Here is my thought to why some people have been successful with easier anemones: The Biocube doesn't need as much wattage because it is so shallow. The height of the tank is only 19.25" high, including the hood. When you take out the height of the hood and the depth of the sand on the bottom, my lights only have to penetrate 13 inches of water to get all the way to the bottom. If your anemone resides anywhere in a biocube it is not very far from the light.
I am asking this, because I have a few months to go before I hope to buy a pair of clowns and an anemone (probably a bubble tip) and wanted to see if this might explain the success that some have had with keeping anemones in these kinds of tanks, as well as learn some things that may help me be successful!
Just a theory that I thought I would throw out there and see what comes back
Please don't be to hard on the noob if he is wrong :P
