Bubble tips vary...sometimes a change in enviroments, temperature, etc. can cause them to loose their bubbles. My rbta's are more like a long tentacle and at times show bubble tips..go and figure. It has split once since I got it though. Check out marc;s hidden treasures and scroll down to karen's rbta's section.

As long as has good coloring and looks happy, I wouldn't worry. Mine almost never has bubble tips and I've had it over a year and it is doing fine.

It varys from a few hours to a few months. A trick you can do is get some live or frozen brine shrimp and add some garlic extract (kent's garlic extreme or seachem's garlic guard are two good ones). Squirt some near the tenticles of the anemone and this should persuade your clownfish to start hosting in your bta !

Some of the info I've found online says that light plays a part in the BTA tips. If it's getting what it needs the tips puff up? As long as you have good lighting and it can find a place where it's happy. I've even been told that you have to have MH lights for BTA's but mine is plump and happy under my T5's and I've had it for a month or so. Time will tell.

Dude, You are going to spend soooo much time watching that maroon and it's new home ! By the way garlic has been proven not only to stimulate the appetite of finicky fish, but has antedotal effects healthwise. Checkout pablo tepoot's (the maker of spectrum foods..highly recommended food by the way) article in aquarium fish magazine (october's issue) entitled "a closer look at fish nutrition).

Deffinately spot feed it at least a couple times a week. If you give it food and it doesn't close make sure you take the food out.

Feed it a small piece of silverside a couple of times a week and squirt a little brine when you feed your maroon. If it starts to spit out food that means your feeding it too much...just back off the feeding a bit.

Nice pic!

I feed my BTA by gently blowing brine shrimp with a syringe or carefully placing krill near it's mouth (use long medical tweezers if you can get them, that way it doesn't float away unless it doesn't want it).

Kent sells a long turkey baster that has a feeding stick at the end. Perfect for feeding anenomes.
