Default Maroon Clown

I just added a gold or yellow striped maroon clown to my tank and would like to add an anemone. i was told that maroons only like certain types of anamones. is this true and if so what types of anemones are maroon specific?

Do a search on google, you'll find plenty of host lists. Here's one

i have a maroon clown with the yellow stripe and my 1st anenome was a long tentacle anenome. nothing fancy, the clown took to it immediately. then a month later i picked up a sun anenome. the clown likes that one too, he'll spend most of his time tending to the long tentacle, but if he is on the other side of the tank, he'll go hang out around the sun anenome, give it a lil shake of his backside, rub on it. even if your clown doesnt like it, which it probably will, at least you have an anenome to look at, they are great.

Do your research! I learned my lesson yesterday when I came home to find that our anemone had kicked the bucket. I think my maroon clownfish was eating it and it died. The clown never hosted him and when I gave the anemone his first feeding he started nipping at his tentacles. There may have also been other factors involved, but for now I think I am going to hold off on the anemones.

For those of you keep or have keeped maroons...what has been your experience with them as far as their tankmates? The literature suggestes that they should be kept as the alpha fish and that they don't play well with others, especially other clowns.

Gold Marron are the meanest of the clown fishes. Mine have drawn blood from me! I would rate clarki to be second meanest. Clowns are very territorial and love to protect their area of the tank.

Congrats! A lot of the online stores list compatability also. Once you get an anenome don't be discouraged if your clown doesn't host right away, I've had my BTA for a month and my clowns haven't hosted yet.
